Trinity Hall Boat Club Bicentenary
For two centuries, Trinity Hall Boat Club has been at the heart of collegiate rowing in Cambridge. Since its founding in 1827, generations of Hall rowers have found success on and off the River Cam, forged lifelong friendships, and contributed to a proud tradition of sporting achievement and community spirit.
As we approach our Bicentenary in 2027, we invite alumni, students, Fellows, and friends from across the world to join us in celebrating 200 remarkable years of Trinity Hall Boat Club and in looking ahead to the future.
A Legacy Built on the Water
From the earliest crews taking to the Cam in the nineteenth century to today’s student members, Trinity Hall Boat Club has played a significant role in the story of the College and the wider Cambridge rowing community.
Over 200 years, thousands of Hall members have worn the black and white with pride. Together they have contributed to memorable victories, historic races, enduring traditions and a culture of commitment and teamwork that continues to define the Club today.
Bicentenary Celebrations
In 2027, Trinity Hall Boat Club will mark its 200th anniversary with two special events designed to bring together past and present members of our rowing community.

Bicentenary Regatta and Dinner
The day will also include an exhibition on the history of THBC from the College archive including rarely seen items from 1887, our famous year, when THBC won all the events but one at Henley Royal Regatta.
Friday 2 July 2027
As the most successful Cambridge college at Henley Royal Regatta we have been granted a Row Past during the tea interval, which will be followed by a drinks reception.

THBC Tartan Scarves
By popular demand the Boat Club tartan is back! As the tartan has not been available for a number of years we anticipate high demand. The cost will be in the region of £60. To avoid disappointment, please register you interest in purchasing a scarf now by emailing THBC200@trinhall.cam.ac.uk.
Blazer Buttons
The College has commissioned a new die to supply both jacket and cuff buttons, available in sets of 3 jacket and 8 cuff. To complete your THBC blazer, the cost will be in the region of £90. To register your interest in purchasing blazer buttons please email THBC200@trinhall.cam.ac.uk.
Bicentenary Fundraising Appeal
THBC has been very fortunate to receive philanthropic gifts from our loyal donors. Financial support enables us to provide new equipment and to remain inclusive for everyone who wishes to be involved
In recent years, gifts from alumni and friends have helped our crews to achieve great success. W1 lie second on the river in the Lents and Mays. M1 climbed two places this year in both competitions. The telemetry we were able to purchase through gifts on our Giving Day last year helped contribute to this success. However, rowing is an expensive sport – new 8’s cost around £50k, a set of blades cost £5k and a cox box costs £1k.
With the support of donors, during our bicentenary year we hope to purchase two new 8’s, one for the men and one for the women, along with the blades and cox boxes to ensure they are fully equipped and ready to row.
