The Bell Fellowship
Peter (Mechanical Sciences, 1943) and Margaret Bell’s legacy gifts have allowed the College to endow in perpetuity an Early Career Fellowship at Trinity Hall. This Fellowship has been established to allow the College to offer outstanding early career academics a start on the academic ladder, while ensuring we can fulfil our teaching needs. Now named the Bell (Early Career) Fellowship, the post is for a fixed term of 4 years and allows the post holder to pursue research in their chosen subject, while contributing to the teaching and education of our undergraduate students.
The first post holder was Dr Grigalius Taujanskas (Mathematics, 2011), Bye-Fellow and College Assistant Professor in Mathematics. The second Bell Fellow, Dr Adrian Gramma, was appointed in October 2025. Dr Gramma is a Teaching Associate in European Social and Economic History.
Dr Grigalius Taujanskas
“The Bell Fellowship has been a fantastic opportunity to participate in the teaching and development of Trinity Hall’s undergraduates, all the way from their first supervisions in Cambridge to their graduation. It has provided scope for a variety of interactions between myself and the students, including being able to provide support and advice on their future career choices. The Fellowship has also allowed me to continue, indeed accelerate, my research programme, for which I am grateful.”
